2017 Social Media Reporter for Daejeon

You may congratulate me for being selected as one of 50 social media reporters for the city of Daejeon in South Korea. There are only 3 of us who represent the English-speaking and writing side of it and I can’t wait to get started.

Our initiation ceremony took place on Monday at City Hall, where the Mayor of our town – Kwon Sun-taik, presented us with congratulatory awards and small souvenirs.

They even created business cards for everyone. Check out mine…

We also got a chance to have lunch together with all the participants and the man himself. Seafood was on the menu and lots of networking and socializing (in our broken Korean).

What the post entails is basically documenting various cultural, artistic, musical and other events in our city and writing about them on the city’s blog – Daejeon Story and I can’t wait to share more Daejeon-related stories on my own SNS platforms (such as Facebook, Pinterest, Youtube and others) as well as the city’s, while assisting English-speaking community in finding entertainment from our working lives. I always knew that maintaining my own blog (you’re staring at it 😛 , photographing around the city and sharing – were going to come in handy one day. I’m very lucky and thankful to have been selected!

Update: This occasion and ceremony has even made it into the news, because wherever the Mayor goes, news does too! Thank you for attending Mr. Kwon.
