Photographing fall in Daejeon, South Korea

Autumn – the year’s last, loveliest smile” by William Cullen Bryant.

Living in a city of over 1.5 million and growing, may be a bit challenging finding those picturesque autumn splashes of color. Over the years, I was able to visit a number of places in Daejeon, where fall and it’s ephemeral beauty are IN YOUR FACE!

I hope you take the time out of our busy lives to enjoy an afternoon or a picnic in one of the following autumn-filled places:

  • City Hall Park  (시청 공원) – City Hall subway stop Exit 3. Walk straight for about 1-2 minutes, the park will be on your right.

Is there a place that you particularly like for fall colors around Daejeon? I like tips too, comment below or share with that photographer/picnic-lover in your life.

  1. Great pictures. Korea really does show off during fall and spring! I especially like that most of their cities have lots of parks and a few mountains/hills and trails thrown into the mix.

  2. Wow! I live i a super urban part of Seoul so I never really see sights like this. Thank you for sharing these amazing pictures. It makes me want to by a DSLR, and just run away.

  3. What a treat to the eyes!! Fall is so beautiful in Korea. You know, I’m from Chicago and often visited the suburbs, so this colorful display of nature isn’t new for me but it is on a whole other level here. I also love that the weather is so mild, makes me truly understand why folks love fall so much! I finally get what the fuss is all about 🙂

  4. I really like your framing and editing. What kind of lenses did you use with these pictures? I didn’t know that Daejeon is so beautiful in fall. How is it in spring? I guess similar?

  5. Alla, these are really beautiful photos! I am not from Daejeon and I haven’t visited so thank you for sharing. I can only speak for Seoul and beautiful fall colours are just all over so photography enthusiasts won;t have a hard time getting great photos. The photo of the couple with 2 girls in white must be a treasure for the family.

  6. I thought fall in Daejeon was just spectacular, also because Daejeon is the only city with protected green spaces as a science-driven city, specifically the road that leads up to Doryeong-dong with all the research institutes. Where is Jangtae Mountain??! Your pictures are so surreal! I love the wooden bridge shot! It looks like it could be somewhere in New England, not Korea!

    • Jangtae Mountain is about 45 mins away from the city center. It’s such a cool place, full of seqoia trees, a pond, skyway observatory and gorgeous nature – it’s such a treat and a great place to picnic or relax after a busy week.
