Photography & travel tips from an award-winning photographer, educator & wanderlust

Paris, France

What I loved: day cruise along river Seine, picnic next to the Eiffel tower (I know, but it has to be done), Montmartre part of town and its narrow streets, hearing French everywhere I went; ease of getting around (at least in my head it made sense); the glittering 10 minutes of the tower at dusk

What I didn’t: competing for a photograph, for sidewalk, for a seat or a bathroom turn with the other 32 million tourists that visit this city each year; our short trip duration (only 1.5 days, but plenty of reason to come back!)

Quick travel tips: you can see most of Paris sights in 1.5 days ( I did and never walked ever again!), get your picture painted in Montmartre (or buy a painting, its cheap); see the city from Montparnasse Tower; food is pricey, so bring lots of ramen (joke); go with your dad (it makes for a funny story later); drink and eat by the river at dusk with the locals; wine is cheap – drink up!
