The buds are ready to poke their sleepy heads out and scream “Spring, bitches!” and that means that Daejeon Artists Collective is gearing up for yet another art exhibition. It’s not hard to figure out how many we’ve hosted by the title and we’re happy to exhibit our works at our very first location – Igong Gallery. We’ve come along way since our first show in 2011, some members have come and gone, some teach classes in their respective calling, some even come back from Seoul

The Daejeon Arts Collective (DJAC) has been around since 2011 with more than 50 members having been a part of the collective since. The Daejeon Arts Collective hosts exhibitions twice a year and has become an important element in the international community of Daejeon. Artists in the collective present a wide variety of work, including (but not limited to) painting, silk screen, ceramics, multi-media, embroidery, wood working, photography, paper cutting, and sculpture. For some of its participants, being a part of this collective has opened up opportunities to collaborate, participate and exhibit all over Korea. This may be the coolest exhibit to date that I’ve been a part of – 2015 Photo and Imaging Show in Seoul from April 16-19, 2015. http://www.photoshow.co.kr/english/ Being a part of a photography community here in Korea has tons of perks: networking, photo walks, used gear sales, tips, places to visit and once in a great while you’d be asked to participate in a show. I bet the selection process was a tough one because there are some outstanding photographers on this peninsula.
