This is what goes on in the mind of a typical photographer:

-Composition rules (rules of thirds, balancing elements, leading lines, symmetry and patterns, viewpoint, background, distracting elements, depth, framing, etc)

-Cropping ratios

-Camera lens choice

-Aperture choice (depth of field)

-Shutter Speed (movement vs still shot)

-ISO (how much light do we have to work with, noise)

-Light (direction, quality, quantity, shadow vs. sunlight, reflector or not, artificial light or not)

-White Balance (Sunny, Tungsten, Shadow, Auto, etc)

-Pose (man vs women, flattering, no awkward hands, weight on the back leg, hips direction, chin direction, eye direction, etc)

-Clothing (does it fit with the background colors, fixing scarves, shirts, wedding gowns, etc)

-Connection/emotion (depends on the message/story of the image)

-Story (what are we trying to portray)

-Black and white vs color

-Focus
